Just me being myself.

Thank you for visiting www.KenOnMaui.com version 4.0.

May 1994: my flight from San Francisco International airport was delayed for an hour because the U.S. Navy was testing missiles off the coast of California.  That was one delay I was happy to experience. After arriving safely on Maui, I remember the strobe affect from the willi willi trees coming from Kahului to Kihei.  I remember the heat of the sun shining on my face.  I remember seeing the big blue Pacific.  This is going to be great, living in paradise.

My first job was at Five Palms Beach Grill with the now famous Hawaii chef from Aspen Colorado: D.K. Kodama.  I then worked as a fine dining waiter at the Kea Lani Resort and that is where I had some of the best times here on Maui.  I’ve made friends for life with many of the people who were my co-workers and I value their friendships greatly.  The year was 2000 and Y2K just ended, I decided to get my real estate license at the John Stapleton School of Real Estate.  I thought, how hard could it be?  It’s just a step above being a waiter.

I first tried my real estate career with ERA.  I had no clue what I was doing but I remember Rosie pushing me to do an open house at Kihei Shores.  If I remember correctly, it was listed for $95,000.  I did a few more open houses but left ERA to join my friends mom at Unique Maui Real Estate.  My time there was spent doing open houses and fumbling my way through one of the best runs Maui’s real estate market has ever experienced.  Needless to say, real estate was still a “side job”.  In 2006, I joined Coldwell Banker Island Properties as a full time agent.  The future looks bright, I’m sure there will be ups and downs in Maui’s real estate market but those ups and downs are on an incline.  I can only succeed with the thought of never stop learning, never give up and with the love and support from my wife, Maricel.  Thank you.
