Mayor Bissen's Vision: STR Units

I just found this video of part of Mayor Bissen's meeting that took place a week ago on Wednesday.

A few points that stood out to me...

• He says that the outcome will be about 2000 units that were originally workforce housing

• He said that Minatoya properties would only be part of the solution for increased housing for locals

• He said that the hotels are at 60% occupancy and there is plenty of room for tourists

• He failed to mention building more infrastructure nor homes

• He failed to mention the amount of potential lawsuits

• He failed to mention how tourism dollars allow local families to work and live on Maui

There are other points but I really want you to watch the video and make your own conclusions. If anything during the last meeting before the county council this summer he did say if your condominium is classified as apartment and you don't feel it should be converted to long term rentals, change the zoning.
